Hi there,

I want to randomly let delta chat users chat with each other, after typing in a questions.

The idea is, similar to todays AI chatbots, you can ask another human a question. And if someone is online and interested in the topic conveyed through tags or keywords in the question, they can accept the question.

Both chatters are joined in a new group (should work like the invite-bot).
And they can chat away.

The big problem is, how to get the email adresses of random users, right?
Maybe someone can join a database of “ready chatters” from which the bot randomly chooses an adress and checks if online?

Idealy the emailadress of the chatters is opaque to each other: it is only needed to start the conversation.

I’m totally new to creating delta chat bots, and I would be thrilled if we could build something like that.
For me it has the potential to rival Big Techs AI slop.

Kind regards, cf

Such a service would have the same issues as chatroulette:

>
> Within a year of the site's launch, Chatroulette received criticism, particularly with respect to the offensive, obscene, or pornographic material that some users of this site were exhibiting. Television personality Keith Ablow advised, "Parents should keep all their children off the site because it's much too dangerous for children. It's a predator's paradise. This is one of the worst faces of the Internet that I've seen. It's disconnecting human relationships rather than connecting them." (Ablo...

Also, the way you describe it would definitely not scale if only a single person is allowed to gain from the (gratis) service of another. How it sometimes works on the web is that anonymous real-time “AMA”/FAQ forums are opened where anyone can ask about anything at all, usually relating to real life problems. Then others usually give answers and rate the answers of the others. It works better this way because it is tied to an account, reputation and everyone can benefit from the service of another.

Hi and welcome!

I’m not entirely getting what’s the precise question though. Just get the list of all users and pick a random one?

You’ll have to implement the “online” check manually: Delta Chat’s “online” status is based on when you last received an email from that user (including a “read” receipt): [FAQ - Delta Chat](https://delta.chat/en/help#what-does-the-green-dot-mean).

Maybe you just send the message with the question to some users, and wait for them to read the message or maybe reply with an `/assign` command or something.
