Import public keys

Thin is so close but yet so far. The almost decade-long dream of being able to chat encryptedly with normal PGP users is tantalizingly close with this vcf tech but still unattained :sob:

you are able to reply, just that the thread will be not part of the old unencrypted thread the first time you switch from unencrypted to encrypted chat, some people don’t even use threading to read their inbox, so I would say it is an inconvenience, also, notice that threading is bound to stop working anyways because we don’t want to reveal threads and groups to the server, to reduce metadata, so you better don’t use Delta Chat with that people or they just don’t care that your messages don’t arrive in tidy threads

in Delta Chat now the identity is your encryption key, not email address, so if someone using classic email sends you from the same address encrypted and unencrypted messages, they count as two different contacts/chats one is the classic email contact fallback due to lack of encryption, and the second is the identity of the key they used to encrypt the message, that means it can never happen anymore that a chat drops to unencrypted, if you have an encrypted chat/contact that chat will be forever protected, this was a huge improvement, it also allows you to selectively decide to send a message to that person encrypted or unencrypted, what you want of having unencrypted and encrypted in a single chat is not possible anymore, there is no way around it
