The new policy is [here](https://delta.chat/en/community-standards#collective-maintenance-standards). I am making a new post because the original thread was locked.

When asked if “human authored” meant human written, r10s declined to clarify. This seems like an attempt to avoid criticism while allowing LLM-generated code in practice. The guidelines look responsible at first glance, but they leave out the code itself.

EDIT(addition): The section about collective maintenance, human authoring and LLMs is a guideline, not a policy, on purpose. Policies invite rule lawyering and detection games. The “authored” vs. “written” question below is an example. The answer stays what it was: we only merge and ship code in Delta Chat that is human autho…

This is a condescending dismissal of the [many](https://support.delta.chat/t/any-official-position-on-the-use-of-ai/5039) [serious,](https://support.delta.chat/t/any-official-position-on-the-use-of-ai/5039/2) [well-written](https://support.delta.chat/t/any-official-position-on-the-use-of-ai/5039/49) [criticisms](https://support.delta.chat/t/any-official-position-on-the-use-of-ai/5039/104) from users and developers. LLM companies have been helping the US military and IDF kill people. There are boycotts of Google, Microsoft, and others because of this. LLMs more generally are poisoning the air and water, destroying the climate, devaluing and exploiting people’s labor, creating misinformation, making people less intelligent, ruining the internet, creating vulnerabilities, etc. Are these not “pressing” and “relevant” issues? They are not just “abstract arguments.” This post is even purely practical: [Any official position on the use of AI? - #104 by ploum](https://support.delta.chat/t/any-official-position-on-the-use-of-ai/5039/104)

I am very disappointed. LLMs go against everything that a project like Delta Chat stands for, and I am certain that most users feel the same way.
