There is no legal reason to take it down. All that the dev must to is to publish the source code.
I say that if they are working on pushing a secure messenger that works, then let them cook.

And say that the source code is under the GPLv3. 
Calling someone a worm is an insult in English, same as calling someone червь (I think this insult is more common in Russian?).
But “worm” is not usually an adjective. “Gay” is an adjective; using it as a noun is widely considered offensive. But I think you just mistyped!
