# What data is included/excluded from iOS device backups?

Hi there,

I’d like to know whether chats and the private/public key are included or excluded from iOS device backups, to either:

1. Local device backups to macOS (via Finder)
2. ICloud backups

In other words, would a restore to a new iPhone from either of these 2 backup locations, restore _everything_ ?
