Add iOS 26 Liquid Glass

Expected behavior

Have nice liquid glass like Signal for example has now

Actual behavior

No liquid glass  :smiling_face_with_tear:

I’ve heard there are some issues with Liquid Glass. Once they are ironed out I guess a volunteer enthusiast could maybe add it as an option. But the devs seem pretty focussed on calls just now, and I doubt this will be a priority. Sorry.

Oh yea, agree. Calls are more important. I will look into adding liquid glass myself.

to be honest I don’t think it is even a good idea to go too wild in that liquid glass nonsense, I see high chances of Apple changing that in the near future, as a good designer once said:

I see where you are coming from, but take a look at Signal app, I think they implemented it really well. Also, being a user of iOS26 daily and having started on the beta, I don’t really have issues with readability anymore.

I was thinking of Signal when I said that previous message, I don’t think that bar has good readability, look at the low contrast in packs tab icons, specially the 4th is barely visible in white mode, and for elderly people or people with poor vision it only gets worse and harder see stuff there:

We don’t have any tabs with images like that so would not have Signals issue but we use a custom ui element for the message text field bar which would require some work to convert.

The hard part is maintaining backwards compatibility as we wouldn’t want our app to look like liquid glass on anything before ios 26.

I’ve heard that all apps in the App Store will have to fully support iOS 26 from April 2026 onwards. Presumably, this also refers to the Liquid Glass design.

we will have to forcefully drink a full glass of liquid glass! :glass_of_milk:
