Allow to switch profile when sharing or forwarding on Android 2.43

Hello, the changelog for version 2.43 of the Android client mentions “Allow to switch profile when sharing or forwarding”, however I’m not seeing this working, neither for forwarding nor sharing. I have three profiles.

Is there anything that I could be missing to have it working?

you find the option in the three dot menu of the forwarding dialog:

Ah, there it is! Then the question is how to teach users about this “hidden” feature … :innocent:

let’s see how that works in practise for ppl not knowing the dialog before nor reading the changelog. at least it is not an initial annoyance, as most ppl have one profile :slight_smile:

iOS/desktop have slightly different options, so we have kind of A/B test :slight_smile:

if one gets to the dialog and naively want to forward to a different profile, and does not think much, there are not so many options where one can tap.

I think that it would me more user-friendly to automatically open the dialog. I.e. the user-flow:

  • You click “forward”, or click “share” in another app
  • The switch-profile dialog opens, asking you which profile you want to forward/share into (only if there are multiple profiles, of course). The title should ideally say “Select Profile” or “Share with…” instead of “Switch Profile”, but anything is fine there
  • After you selected the profile with which you want to forward/share, you select the chat
