Auto-mute new groups created by muted contact

I am using the mastodon bridge, I have the home and notifications chats muted, but every time a new DM (direct message) is received from a mastodon user, a new chat is created and this triggers a notification, I need then to manually mute the new created chat

it just came to my mind that it is probably a good idea to auto-mute (mute by default) new group chats created by a muted contact, that way I could just mute the bot and new groups created by it will be auto-muted

this is a little change that could be added to chatmail core and wouldn’t require any UI change

There are no muted contacts, only muted 1:1 chats. So you will need to create a 1:1 chat with a contact to even mute this chat.

Standard question: what do other messengers (Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram) do when you mute a 1:1 chat and contact with muted 1:1 chat invites you to a group?

Maybe the chat should stay as a contact request, then it is already kind of “muted”.
