Automatic backups to a SFTP, DAV or Samba server

As suggested here → Migrate DNS domain name of your own server - #8 by Simon I’m creating a feature proposal for automatic backups.

From my point of view, uploading backups of local messages to a remote SFTP servers on a scheduled basis should be enough. DC could even use the encryption keys to access the SSH server if that would make things easier.

Delete messages on the server and make automatic backup from deltachat

HI all, Delta Chat is so very cool. I have a security feature for the future. DeltaChat can already automatically delete messages after different periods of time on the server. That’s very cool! But it would be even cooler if DeltaChat could make a local or wherever stored backup beforehand. Then you have the messages, but the mail provider doesn’t.
