I know there are discussions about avatar pics, but I’m not understanding why I can’t set Avatars for my contacts.
In groups, I can assign an avatar for the group, but in individual conversations I can’t set a photo for the person I’m talking to. Apparently, it they have set an avatar on their end, I can see that … but if they don’t, then I just get a multicolored circle with a letter. I can assign a name, but not a pic.
There was some discussion that Delta will pull avatar pics from the phone contacts, but that does not seem to be happening on my phones or desktop. (Yes, I have given Delta permission to access my contacts.)
Am I doing something wrong, or am I just not understanding a limitation of some sort?
It works in DC-Android but only if no chatmail account is used. I tried to transfer the images from the Android address book to the other DC versions using a backup. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.
As a workaround, an emoji can also be used as an avatar if it is placed at the beginning of the contact name. Of course, address import must be turned off.
This also works with groups.
