Calling doesn’t seem to work on android 5.1. There a few times a call will try and go through, but can’t be answered.

To add to this, (and let me know of it needs to be a separate topic), I’d like if the video camera wants activated by default. This may also help with this issue, as I can only assume the app is also looking for a front facing camera that my phone doesn’t have.
it is just extremely slow since the device it is too old and it takes too long
NOTE: the calls are experimental, that is just a prototype using a webview (basically system browser) and we likely will switch to native webrtc library and native UI in the future
Tiny update: tried updating the webview, it is from 2016. Downloaded a later one that still works with android 5 from 2020~2021, but due to something (idk what) I can’t update it
Which is weird, cuz it seems that at some point I installed bromite to replace the system webveiw. I probably need to adb install the updated browser, and that might be a thing I mess with and update on for the love of losing my mind over this silly lil phone, but it might be a better bet I wait for the webrtc update
Also thank you! (That does remind me though, could you set it to select a gallery app instead of open directly to it? This phone just opens to resents when i wanna set a bg for deltachat, and then just shows me like, 5 pics lol)
Sadly, the phone I have needs root for me to be able to update the browser, and while I know ADB, and have looked online for a solution, the phone itself needs fastboot for me to root it at all, and no one online has any idea how to enable that for this device.
I do, however, know webRTC works just fine on this phone (so long as the app supports Android 5 and much older hardware). I usually use Meshenger to make calls on this thing when I don’t feel like looking at my smart phone, and it works well, so maybe looking at that repo or collaborating with that team might be helpful. The only issue with meshenger is its android only, and lately me n an ios using friend have been using deltachat primarily as a Discord replacement
To get super dooper hyper specific, I belive these are the rom files if anyone wants to figure that stuff out ( ソースコードダウンロードVer.選択|ソースコードダウンロードモデル選択|京セラ ). the build number of my device is 100.1.4600, I’m not sure if that makes a difference, but living in the US (and this thing being old anyway), I can’t update it lol. The processor (if that’s needed for whatever reason) is a Qualcomm technology msm8909.
Hopefully all that technical jargon helps in the development, and I’m down for being a lab rat with my silly lil flip phone if need be. I’m just really interested in this project, and in older phones being made usable in the modern day (especially with how annoying/expensive/distracting newer phones can be. I know there’s “feature phones”, and like, I have one that runs kaiOS, but they really don’t make flip phones like they use to, and Japanese/Korean flip phones are really popular with specific people these days)
