Copy and paste of images into Android client chats now creates a sticker

Expected behavior
Pasting image into chat simply sends full image
Actual behavior
Creates a sticker in the chat and sends that.
Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Copy an image from any browser or part of the operating system.
  2. Paste into any Delta Chat chat.
  3. Observe creation of sticker instead of simply sending original image file in chat.

I have created a fix for this here:

besides fixing the problem and not sending pasted images as sticker, it also now allows you to draft a message together with the image instead of immediately sending as in the past! and allows pasting media via “paste” context menu
