Delivery notifications seem to report whether it was sent to the first-hop smtp server. However, that is just my local MTA, and always immediately shows as successful. I’d like to be able to configure Delta Chat to instead show a checkmark when my email has reached the last hop, via a delivery status notification.
Possible to implement because e.g. mailcow supports DSN extension (RFC 3461 - Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Service Extension for Delivery Status Notifications (DSNs)), but will likely be unreliable as you can’t be sure the recipient server supports this extension.
Hopefully sometimes Mailprovider will see, Chat via Mail is a new market an can help to keep Mail alive
Well if your friends are running their own mail server that’s not a problem.
