Installed from two different sources: Flatpak and Snapd
Expected behavior
I would expect to see the normal desk whith my profile and its menu, the list of my contacts, with the option to open their messages, the saved messages and the messages from the app. (As I can see in my cellphone)
Actual behavior
Instead I see Only a Window indicating that belongs to deltachat but empty.
Steps to reproduce the problem
Go to the apps menu
Open the app (either the one from snapd or the one from flatpak)
Screen snapshots
sreen with the image of the window
Debug logs
I do not understand what a debug logs is
If applicable, debug logs can be copied from within the Delta Chat app:
Open the Settings menu → About → version number|Info.
Alternatively from the Android system log:
adb logcat -v time -s DeltaChat
This log contains private data (e.g. mail address, provider information) which shall be removed or anonymised prior to posting.

Thank you for the report! What operating system are you on?
Does the window look like a brand-new installation of Deltachat, or is it a nonfunctional blank box? If it looks like a new installation, have you used the “Add second device” option on your cellphone? Does your desktop have a camera (it is fine if it doesn’t)?
The logfile export may be under the advanced settings. It is a sort of diary the app keeps, explaining what it is doing right now, and complaining about all its problems. When something goes wrong, it is often helpful for figuring out what went wrong.
Huh, I was hoping you’d just installed a client for the wrong operating system or something simple like that.
It sounds more complicated. It would be helpful to find your log file, so you could post it. Assuming that it has installed well enough that you have a logfile.
Sorry, I was unclear. If you press CTRL-t (or click on the menu item) to bring up a terminal window, then type “deltachat-desktop” into that window and press enter, what happens?
You could also use the terminal window to type “gnome-text-editor ~/.config/DeltaChat/logs/*”, then press enter. That should open any logfiles. If there are lines that look like errors, you could post them here.
Did you install it from Flatpak and then completely uninstall it before installing it from Snapd? If there are bits of both on the system I can imagine that might cause problems.
1) *If you press CTRL-t (or click on the menu item) to bring up a terminal window, then type “deltachat-desktop” into that window and press enter, what happens?*
The terminal answers “The command “deltachat-desktop” was not found, but it can be installed with: sudo snap install deltachat-desktop”
2) Did you install it from Flatpak and then completely uninstall it before installing it from Snapd? If there are bits of both on the system I can imagine that might cause problems. At the Flatpak shop I can see that the app is installed and I can open it from there. At the snap shop I can see that it is not completely uninstalled but also not installed, because there isn’t any possibility to open the app but there is still the option to uninstall. When I push “uninstall” it seems that it is being uninstalled but then everything stays the same (I can not open the app but there is still there the button to uninstall it again although I have push it repeatedly)
By the way, I am having also troubles with the update of the system. There are some updates that are not being installed although I am trying to since many days: “linux firmware”, “Ungoogled chromium”, “Master PDF editor” and “ok.kde.Platform” (a flatpak runtime module)
Hmm. When did you install your Linux Mint? There is a new version of Debian (underlies Mint) out, and Mint suggest reinstalling for new versions. Did you try to dist-upgrade in situ, or – what version of Linux Mint are you on?
It will probably be necessary to completely uninstall both versions of Deltachat before reinstalling, but we should probabky get your system updating first.
“Virginia” is still supported, but Zara has been released now. If you wanted to update anyway you could backup all your files etc. to some places not on your computer and install Zara. That would probably fix it! But it is a bit drastic. If you want to keep using Virginia, that should be possible too.
You may need to ask someone weho knows more about Mint than I, and who is able to look at your computer. Your local Linux User’s Group should work, if you live in a city or largeish town.
