Deltachat Android and Desktop

Hi everyone,

I’d like to make a suggestion based on something I’ve noticed. In the desktop version of Delta Chat, when you have multiple accounts configured, only the account you’re actively using stays connected, while the others are automatically disconnected. As you switch between accounts, the one you open becomes active and connects, while the previous one disconnects.

I think it would be great to have this same behavior on the Android version as well, so that both the desktop and mobile apps work in a similar way.

Is it possible to implement this feature on Android too? For example, the Arcane Chat app already has a similar system, where you can enable or disable individual accounts using toggles. This allows you to activate only the account you want to use at a given time.

Personally, I have eight accounts, and sometimes I prefer not to have certain ones connected—mainly for privacy reasons. I’d like to connect them only when I choose to, especially if I want to avoid receiving messages from specific contacts. Just a thought I wanted to share!

Thanks for considering it.

arcanechat supports disabling profiles individually this allows you to have 1-2 enabled while the rest are off

If the functionality of version 2.33 is moved to desktop versions, then I think all servers will be connected at the same time, right?

to not confuse casual readers: by default, this is not true. by default all profiles stay connected, on all platforms.

you need to set an experimental option to get a different behaviour on desktop. apart from that, yes, an option to disable a dedicated profile is useful, we just did not came to that on all platforms
