Disabling automatic microphone leveling [also: camera indicator light lit during audio calls]

Today I was making a call from the FlatPack app (DeltaChat) and noticed two things:

1. The microphone automatically adjusts its volume level, which is unacceptable because the other person starts hearing me poorly. Moreover, it lowers the volume but doesn’t increase it back.

2. I’m using a laptop and I see that the camera indicator light is constantly on, even though the camera is not being used (it’s only an audio call).

These issues should probably be fixed, or at least users should be given the option to control (disable) the automatic microphone gain adjustment.
