I saw that someone created an app to have an editor to compose emails (GitHub - DavidSM100/email-composer-webxdc).
It’s really nice but from what I understand it only works well in arcanechat, but arcanechat is only there for phone.
Honestly I like the fact that deltachat is based on email so much, for several reasons:
all the times I had a local email client I stopped using it because I wasn’t sending enough email. Now with deltachat I’m incentivized to keep it open because it’s like a chat and this also helps to degooglize myself, because I will never set up google on deltachat!
and also the other way around, having the email along with the chat gives me an incentive to use deltachat as a chat, because I am minimalist and I like to have few programs that make more things
Currently what is most lacking is the ability to send multiple attachment in a single email.
Actually being able to specify the subject is possible (someone explained it to me on the github issue tracker just creating a group), however it is a bit cumbersome.
Until now I have not wanted to explicitly ask for it because I don’t want the minimalist nature of deltachat to be distorted, however with that email application the question reopens.
Using a webxdc app to compose an email would have practically no effect on the chat-oriented interface but likewise providing this function to the more interested users.
In fact, I think it would be only necessary at least to allow subject line entry and to include multiple attachments in a message features available to apps.
Would this be possible?
Well, I hope they support it because deltachat would become so useful to remain probably permanently open on my pc.
Either that or I hope that @adbenitez wants to bring arcanechat to computer too because I don’t like to use smartphone.
here among other things the dev explained how to be able to write the subject line of an email, not really knowing how webxdc works I don’t know if you can take advantage of this feature, but maybe creating a new group for each email would be a bit inconvenient.
What is the purpose of the email composer app? I just tried it, it says subject line is not supported, html is not supported, and you can only pick one attachment at a time. There doesn’t seem to be any advantage to using it.
The reason these functions are disabled is because on deltachat they are not yet supported while on arcanechat (for android) which is more experimental they are supported.
So let’s say the application would be ready pending support.
