Functional "big" group size? Quick question

Hello, I have a quick question. Could you please tell me what is your experience with big groups? I am part of a 30 people group and it works very well (some people on nine.testrun relay and others in our own relay, wich is set as default chatmail I think). So, what size of group starts being slow or disfunctional, please? We are about to create a coordination system for up to 40…? people and it would be great to suggest DC, but it is better to ensure success…

Haven’t seen issues with big groups yet, however, many of the hosted bots start to die if a certain combination of servers are resident in the same group (the probability of it happening grows with group size). It’s definitely a bug in either the code of multiple bots, the bot SDK or core (hopefully not the last).

But what size groups have you been part of? 50? 100 people? More?

I don’t care that much about bots, but that is good to know. Thanks

Don’t worry about it. A group of 40 people that you propose should work perfectly as long as all participating chatmail servers are well maintained.

Ok, I am still curious about the size limit of slowness or disfunctiolality, but I will propose DC for this group in particular. Thank you!

groups of up to 500-1000 users should be fine, when reaching 1000 and above it should start to get a bit slower than usual because you have to encrypt for a lot of participants, also you have to send emails in batches of 1000 so in groups of +1000 you will start sending more than 1 email per message which will affect speed a bit

in Signal 1000 is a strict limit of group size due to similar encryption slowness]

usually such huge private groups are not practical/needed tho

Thank you for the answer!! That is what I wanted to know, it is more than needed :tada::ok_hand::ok_hand:
