How to use normal email adress instead of chatmail?

Hi, I am a long-time delta chat user and some recent changes prevent me from using it at all. I used to use a classic email from a supported provider but I can no longer use it because the classic system of registering an account has changed. One can no longer put an existing email adress as a new account but is forced to use chatmail or restore an old account, which I can’t do as my previous install (1.48.3) crashes on export and on creating a qrcode. I can’t use it on my new device.
I dont’ really care about getting my encryption keys right now.

Is there still a way to register a classic email instead of using chatmail ?

Total compatibility with email protocol used to be the strenght of delta chat. If it is not possible anymore to use a normal email adress, then it is broken for me.

Delta Chat version
1.48.3 on both devices

Expected behaviour

Hability to register with an existing email account at first boot.

Actual behavior

I see one button for chatmail and one for importing an account. Even with a chatmail account and trying to add a second one only these two options appear. The hability to register with an existing email account simply disappeared.

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Open a fresh install
  2. No option for existing email account

OK found it. It looks like I had to write a message here to figure out it was below the testrun option when creating a new account.

Maybe it could be changed as it confuses new users (a friend of mine who was kind enough to give it a try) as well as regular users (me).

I would suggest adding a “use an existing email adress” button more visible at first boot. For what it’s worth.

hi @jin I agree with you, that is why in ArcaneChat I made it like that:

it is in f-droid so if your friends have android you could recommend that
