Integration with croc to send large files

Summary

What if enable file send relay alongside the chatmail, so large files transfered directly,

unlimited size, without loading the server. (And eliminating the need of clouds!)

There is already tool to do it: croc | Infinite Digits

Expected behavior

Select an option “transfer large file”, progress bar appears, file downloaded by reciever.

Actual behavior

File is uploaded to the server, then downloaded.

Croc is only a CLI tool and thus it’s not readily available for integration with Delta Chat.

Also note that we already have two things for P2P communication in Delta Chat / Chatmail servers: a TURN server for video calls, and Iroh relay for real-time WebXDC channels.

Thanks for reply.

There is actually gui app for Andoid, but it is not in the play market for some reason.

Cannot ask everyone to install f-droid, while all mobile messengers send large files badly;

Is it possible to make some kind of fork embedded in DC, maintaining the compatibility with original tool?

Hope implementing the functionality worth the effort.
