I have a group with a number of people and I would like to post there about another group that they may want to join. I don’t want to add them myself, it should be their choice. And the QR code or https invite link doesn’t work very well within the app itself.
What would be a good way to link to join a Delta Chat group within Delta Chat itself?
Please share your platform, version and and where you got the app from.
If you click on an invite link, it is supposed to switch over to the referenced group if you are already a member and otherwise offer the choice of whether to join or not.
Could you describe in more details how it doesn't work very well for you?
How do you create and share an invite link for a group in Delta Chat to be posted to another group or user in Delta Chat. The QR invite code is for use outside of delta chat.
I can’t very well comment why it doesn’t work for me since I haven’t found a way of creating such a link.
There is a “Copy Link” button next to the QR code, e.g. in Delta Chat Desktop it is below the QR code. Invite link is not only for the use outside of Delta Chat, it is also usable inside Delta Chat and works there without opening a browser or contacting any external servers.
When I test the link by first sending it to myself in a group I have for “Notes” and then click the link I get
“Reset QR Code” I would expect to be taken to the group. (See screenshot)
So does it mean that I would have to create a new test user, send the link to that test user and then have the test user test the link, to know if it behaves differently for the user that generates the link (me) and the user that receives the link (the test user), if that is the case?

Yes, it is better to create a new profile to test. You cannot scan your own QR code to test joining the group, the dialog in this case proposes to disable the QR code.
