Is the "Only Fetch from DeltaChat folder" option currently unusable in practice with multi device?

I might be missing something here, but seems to me like the “Only Fetch from DeltaChat folder” option might be currently somewhat unusable in practice with multi device:

It seems to me that using this option in the long term requires leaving messages on the server at first, but then having some way to delete them eventually. But the “Delete messages from Server” doesn’t seem to offer any mechanism to only delete from the DeltaChat folder, therefore not providing any way to sustain this sort of setup with multiple devices. Unless there is perhaps another feature in the UI that I missed that provides this?

Note: I realize in practice the mechanism might provide that behavior, but if the UI can’t commit to saying that’s what it does, I don’t think any user can be expected to use it that way. This seems to leave the question how the user is expected to manage this otherwise.

Well it is an advanced setting that requires you to use your own dedicated email account and setup a server side filter rule, so I wouldn’t expect that the UI fully explains it.

Also it is for a use case that we actively recommend against because it is so advanced (using delta chat next to a classic MUA like thunderbird).

The UI saying something different than it does, doesn’t really seem like “not fully explaining it”. I think the UI should either commit to doing this correctly, or the functionality should be removed if there isn’t a good workaround (is there?).

But this would make self-hosting DeltaChat less obtainable, since using it via a “DeltaChat” folder and an alias is often without extra cost for paid mailboxes, while a separate IMAP inbox is often not.
