My person thought (of course independend of use of localization into Khmer for the original) to share requirments for a Khmer-“fork”-app (possible similar use for other Asian languages), in the case one might be inspired to give skills and time into it, dedicated for use of the Sangha and it’s follower, meaning for only harmless and from worldly trade independent use and undertakings, based exclusive on generosity and goodness:

you are allowed to do all the changes, this is allowed by the license core, android and desktop are using.
however, at least now, i do not think someone of the “core Delta Chat team” can really help on that, a fork is a lot of work, not just one time, but all the time currently, we just do not have the resources for that.
there are some ideas of general approaches to “branding”, however, this is probably also nothing that will happen the next weeks or months (you can never know, of course, but that is my current prediction
so, what we can do is to add the Khmer language file to “Delta Chat”, however, keeping the name “Delta Chat”. Users can select Khmer language manually then and it will also be selected automatically if that is the selected system language.
Total understandable, good master r10s, and just thought of generally letting be known and in no way to be seen as a request (even toward the team) or something that should one burden or feel obligated, good master R10s. Just a possibility if someone feels inspired. If having seemed differently and caused unease, may it be pardoned.
(My person wouldn’t relay on licence (or such as rights) and is total fine with what might be consciously given and to forward such.)
Since probably very difficult to manage: my person has replaced previous “សារហារីសង្ឃ” with “ដេលតា ជ៉ាត់ (Delta Chat)” (ដេលតា ជ៉ាត់ = one possible khmer-literarisation if such is usual done with different scripts). If just one of both wished, easy to replace string. Also all other “fork”-additions are removed from the here attached file (as txt), good master @r10s :

i summed up all missing strings in missing-km-strings-xml.txt (2.0 KB) - so if you post translation here, i will add that to transifex (alternatively, you can directly do the transations on transifex)

with the “word” breaking, this generally looks good to me - so the spaces are all artificial? i did not know, there is a language that do not has spaces between words
Yes, many, such as Burmese, Thai, Sinhalese, and Japan (possible)… Spaces are only the where other lang. would have comma of other “breaks”.
Some more serious and traditional tools had been generously started to assist in such, but not finished now or layed by side. Almost all conditions in regard of tools to do something online, digital, dedicated for the Sangha, are provided by Master @Moritz .
Wordbreaks by zero-white-space are just accidently included sometime yet. Still needs manual work if wishing to do consequent. The given small laptop with given libreoffice, able to display the special sign got broken and might no more be repeared. So for now not possible from my side and usually people wouldn’t care if autofunctions do not add.

Khmer are introduced to internet/it by facebook and chats, merely only 5 years and only as user, not used to anything else. Common shares are screen-shots, not even copy, past or forward of strings. (just to know a little different IT culture)

to be informed about new strings that will be missing also in Khmer sooner or later, it would be good to subscribe to Transifex, the UI is a bit weird when it comes to user management, however, once that burden is taken, the editor for translating new strings is pretty okay.
Or use Delta-Chat in action and create a group (maybe for all languages), where everybody could quick contribute and even discuss? As side-effect of getting more independend and disconnected from trades and much practical use of Delta-chats advantages.

May good master @r10s see it lesser as burden (which would require pardon) but as good challenge, that my person would’t use commercial tools, get in contracts or trade in the world, and it’s very, very unlikely that any Cambodian would enter there unless already strong westernizationed (aside of most wouldn’t be able, email, understanding… => chaos for sure if)
Generally my person would suggest dokuwiki (not only for the already huge Comprehensive manual for Sārahārī-Saṅghaṁ (Delta Chat) [] but also to give more “no-IT-specialist” access and easy to compare changes. With certain tools there, similar can be made with simple text files, easy to handle, no need for such “services” pulling back to dependency and debts)
@missytake once tried to setup Weblate for this, but this work stalled because it’s not easy to move all translators who are already on Transifex to new platform. Maybe setup Weblate (e.g. on weblate.delta.chat) for new languages? I have just tried Weblate on https://hosted.weblate.org/, it’s actually easier to navigate than Transifex.
best is always to make the best of what one is already given, general, and how things really work out isn’t really under one’s controll.
Using Delta-Chat is perfect and, maybe sound strange, maybe making a chat for even each string or something like that. When possible to feed a forum database, why not a language?
A topic for each, if able to replay (special no-replay mails), maybe.
And! One feature the app lacks is to act more direct on behave of it by giving feedback, report bugs and even contribute translations.
My person remembered using an editor (not even remember it’s name!, maybe droideditor) having a feature to contribute translatin, leading to a simple formular which was then send to the developers database, collecting feedbacks. Needed an hour to contribute and was avaliable the next day. No registrations necessary and direct contribution to the one one owes gratitude without getting more caught/bond here and there.
Thought on “what can/could I do with what is already given”, my person thought further “f having an excel-list, as minor ‘excle-lists-coder’, countaining all string-names in rows and filled field with particular translation in each lang-column, I could ‘easy’ generate simple txt-files for single pages for each string and language and create a string.xlm-page for each language imbedding the page content of each string related to the language. It would then be easy for everyone to contribute a translation for each string without getting much involved in coding issues”.
So my person gives such a try and will probably share his surely poor ways as at least inspiration or to make use of it for good undertakings in own regarded world.
So lets “one-finger-eagle-system-copy-and-paste” on it a while further here and back-linking to the strings actions, infos… in the manual as well, so to get an idea of what the string is about fastly as well and vici-versa.
Good then… my person gave it a try and thinks that it’s easier here for this case for the good masters use and for contribution to Khmer at least. It could be made surely more elegant…

Not sure where to find a complete xml file with all strings right sorted and if there would be a list containing all strings in rows and lang-translations in columns, such could make an even complete preperation easier possible for all languages.

in fact, there are 95 new strings that are not yet translated to Khmer.
maybe it is the time to get into Transifex? that would be the easiest way for now and for future translations, you get everything’s missing on a tap there:
you have to sign up one time at Delta Chat localization - and one time requst access to Khmer - we can also assign you there if you give is your transifex nickname.
It wouldn’t be proper for my person to make use of things not given by owner and if with strings, as well as to contribute to common undertakings, but (as also let known via DC already), good anyway to let known, maybe any lay person might feel fit in regard of the way and inspired.
