Мои сообщения / My messages [get lost one way towards a contact]

Мой собеседник не получает от меня сообщения, но в то же время я от него сообщения получаю! В чём проблема, и как это исправить?

My conversation partner isn’t receiving messages from me, but at the same time, I’m receiving messages from them! What’s the problem, and how can I fix it?

Are you on your conversation partner’s blocklist? (accidentally).

Are you using different Chatmail servers? One server might be blocked. Many publicly-listed Chatmail servers are blocked in some countries. You could both try making another Chatmail account.

If that does not help, it could be useful to know more about your setup: What clients are you using? How did you add contacts?

У меня такая же проблема. Мои сообщения доходят до собеседника, а от него ко мне нет, но это только в приложение android. На ПК сообщения от собеседника приходят без проблем.

Please check the “Connectivity” dialog.

What provider are you using? Some might be blocking you for “spam”. What is the status of the undelivered outgoing messages as reported by Delta Chat? Does it say “delievered” or still spinning the spinner?

Edit: since you say that things are different on PC and Android, please check which Delta Chat versions you have (and then try upgrading).
Then check if the login parameters are the same (SMTP and IMAP port, etc).

We have the same problem intermittently: messages are sent, but I don’t receive any messages sent from different users on different relays. Meanwhile, everything works fine on the desktop app for the same account. After restarting the app on my mobile device, everything starts working again, but the messages I sent still don’t appear. This problem occurs randomly and affects different users.
We use our own relay.

So federation (sending messages between relays) sometimes doesn’t work. Are all relay pairs affected, or only pairs that include some specific relays? Or are only some client pairs affected, regardless of what relay is used?

There have been some non-backwards-compatible changes to the Deltachat core recently. So older clients may silently drop messages from newer clients and vice-versa.

This would be easier to debug if all clients showed a small error message in chat when they get an undecryptable message from a confirmed address, instead of dropping it silently. On the other hand it would make it possible to spam someone with error messages. Perhaps if the error message had a per-profile “do not display this error again” option, or was opt-in?
