New Italian relay

Hi, I had this relay running since December with daily usage for group of friends and family and took the task of translating home, info privacy policy pages into Italian.

The server is on a OVH Cloud French datacenter with plenty of grunt to start with and daily backups.

Also available a public status page and a channel where I’ll post news and development updates (in Italian of course).

Feel free to add it to your list and share, and of course for users to add it to their relays.. And also to come and say hello :waving_hand::waving_hand::waving_hand:

Here is the address

wow! nice! very nice layout

Ciao @ggrey ,

Good to know, and amazing job.

Are you aware of any any italian (or English) DC group about FOSS applications? Sometime I spend ages looking for FOSS alternatives and it would be just quicker and more beneficial having advices coming from direct discussions…

Grazie ciaaao!

Hi, not DC but there are plenty in the mastodon Italian universe we could fetch and make available. And surely we could create one.

Hit me on DC, link on profile bio

Here is the support channel for the relay, where I’ll post updates and service info (maintenance etc).

Cool, thanks! May I suggest the channel link/QR code is added to the website of the relay?

I also think it’s not a good idea to have the flag of Italy in the channel image: it gives the impression of being a kind of official local service.

Hi, there is a link already in the home page. Regarding the flag, I’ve just made it up to differentiate from

A) any other Delta Chat channel

B) make sure that first time visitors identify with nationality.

If it’s not a problem for Delta Chat people. Otherwise I can change it, no problem at all. :flexed_biceps:

This is really culturally-variable, in some countries it is illegal to use a national flag on non-government websites, but in others everyone uses it all the time.

I don’t think it’s a problem. I’m used to seeing Italian flags used very freely. And the whole vibe of the page is not “government service”!
