No messages pulled from INBOX with regular mail account [Poczta INT]

Delta Chat version

v2.52.0

Expected behavior

I expect my regular e-mails to show up in the chat list, and when sending a mail to myself I expect to get a message in my inbox

Actual behavior

Instead, I just see Device Messages and Saved Messages, message to myself does not show up in the inbox on other mail clients.

Create a free e-mail account on Poczta INT
Test out if chatmail works like it does for me here

Try to disable spam filtering to receive unencrypted email inside your Delta Chat client in such cases under Settings → Advanced → Relays → edit → More Options → Enforce Encryption for All Relays

Do you mind confirming that you received the messages after you have already disabled encryption in Delta Chat?

Regarding the message to self: I suspect it’s not even sent to the server at all, as also evident by the lack of the “Email” / envelope icon on the message. For that to work you’d also need to enable “Multi-Device Mode” in Advanced settings (or simply add another device for real).

Sending it with multi-device mode worked, and indeed the message I sent appears in Thunderbird as well. However, all the other e-mails in the inbox from before (the ones in the Thunderbird screenshot: «Przeploty…», «rumplestil…» &c) are not pulled in by DeltaChat. This is true for newer e-mails as well (e.g. the notification e-mails from this forum), even with Thunderbird turned off.

Logs say that INBOX has UIDVALIDITY of 1 and UIDNEXT of 1. This looks strange, as if the inbox never received any messages. Maybe IMAP server is broken somehow.

I tried to register an account and requested activating IMAP support there, until support replies cannot test anything because IMAP server replies with “OK [ALERT] Please enable IMAP access in your account settings first.” when trying to log in.

It’s quite strange, as a few years ago, when DeltaChat used a separate folder in the mailbox, this provider worked fine (except for the ratelimiting during constant moving to that folder). Now it can’t pull any messages…

The server is definitely strange, the log has this line: SELECT response for IMAP folder "INBOX" has no UIDNEXT, fall back to STATUS command. Then explicit STATUS command updated UIDNEXT to 1, but trying to fetch 1:* by UID fetches nothing.

I still have not got IMAP access for the test account I created, so cannot check what is going on with the server yet.

If it moved the messages from INBOX to DeltaChat, this means it at least could detect the messages in the INBOX. Currently it looks like it cannot even see the messages arriving in the inbox.

Here is a response e-mail about DeltaChat support. It says that if DeltaChat uses standard e-mail communication protocols, it should work fine with INT.
