@lk108: When I have DeltaTouch running and I turn off my screen, the Pinephone LED flashes a blue notification when I get a message, which is great. But it also seems to starts flashing every 2.5 minutes regardless. This does not seem to happen when DT is not running.
Is it notifying me that it is polling? There is a new-message notification listed in the pull-down notifications list when I get a new message, but there is nothing in the pull-down list when I get the 2.5-min flashes.
It’s not DeltaTouch. DT only notifies about incoming messages, Webxdc updates, reactions to your messages and calls. And it always has a message body that will appear in the pull-down notifications list.
More importantly, I just checked with a freshly powered on Pinephone without starting DT, and I also get the blue LED flash 2.5 minutes after the display turns off. Not sure why you don’t get it when DT is not running, can you check again (with the phone running on battery only)?
I think it’s the process gsd-power. When you watch DBus, for example with
dbus-monitor > dbusmon.txt
then you’ll see invocations of org.freedesktop.Notifications like this:
I tried to disable notifications for “Power” in the system settings, but to no avail. The opposite also doesn’t work (trying to make these notifications appear in the list by allowing to show message content in popups etc). I was able suppress the blue LED by turning off Automatic Suspend in the power settings, but that’s probably not what you want.
I only tried it once with DT off; I don’t know why it didn’t flash, but obviously I should have repeated the experiment more. Thank you for the very comprehensive debugging of what really isn’t your problem, an apologies for wasting your time.
It’s a pity it’s indistinguishable from a new message, the battery lasts really well when on Automatic suspend!
