I’m trying to migrate some contacts to delta chat, but what’s blocking is that some people don’t get the notification on android until they open the app. We’re all on the latest delta chat version. I don’t have the problem, but I’ve seen it occur: I send a message to the contact standing next to me, and even after 18 minutes there had been not notification (Samsung mobile, Android 14 with security updates unti 1 feb 2026). I think it occurs when the app is not running. When the app is started, the message then comes in.
On my phone I didn’t have to change any settings to get the notifications correctly. Is there something my contacts would need to change?
Is the application installed from Google Play or F-Droid? F-Droid version does not support push notifications. Samsung | Don’t kill my app! may be useful.

The app is installed via google play, but the user needed to allow the app to run unoptimised to get real-time notifications. Strange thing is that I don’t think the use had to do it for Signal.
