There are only a couple of email service providers and each one requires a phone number to have an account. So now you’re required to either: buy another phone number, or make an email account with a different service. The second one is obvious and simple enough, but still a hurdle as opposed to “just use your existing email” (even though you still have to setup the app access). And one might not want to overshare their phone number.
So please keep the option to use the DC folder, keeping the inbox lean and clean.
