Remove images from server upon download

Hey guys,

I am new to delta chat, but I really love the idea behind it.

What I am missing is the option to auto delete media from the email server. There is an option to delete all messages after some time or immediately, but I would want that immediate deletion only for heavy data such as pictures since they can quickly exceed the storage limit of the email provider.

Previously I have been using WhatsApp and there images can not be downloaded after a while. So for example after switching devices it would tell me to “ask the contact to send the message again”.

This feature would be a great addition to delta chat in order to save some storage. No need to store pictures on the server side.

for chatmail, meanwhile heavy messages are deleted sooner for the exact same reason, to not allow storage exceeding, see delete big messages after 7 days by adbenitez · Pull Request #504 · chatmail/relay · GitHub - while that can probably be done even smarter, and ideas as resending are discussed also internally, this simple line already caught the vast majority of inboxes getting too full :slight_smile:
