Round video messages as in Telegram and most of other social networks
On the message input panel, next to (or instead of) the microphone icon, there will be a function for recording a short circular video message
User can record video only using android/ios system camera application view. It’s long and really annoying
let’s not make telegrams out of the delta! you don’t have enough carts or you were kicked out from everywhere and therefore all the rubbish needs to be dragged to the delta?
This feature only exists in Telegram, no? No doubt that it is cute and fun, but it’s certainly not a common thing that all users are instantly familiar with. I’d also be curious what Telegram’s usage numbers are on that feature. I’d use it once for giggles and probably never again.
It’s the sort of thing that a Delta Chat fork should implement. An app that seeks to be much more opinionated.
No, also WhatsApp, plus the Russian VK and Max.
That maybe goes for us nerds, for others it’s the primary communication method, especially them kids.
We have voice messages already, and adding video is not a big leap.
I also constantly use this feature on Telegram and am really missing it here. I’m not a fan of Telegram (anymore) because of the way they lied themselves into popularity, but I think that usually their feature selection and execution is pretty good. Often features that they have will appear in Whatsapp a while later (usually with worse execution).
So in my opinion what @veritas said is inappropriate. In the end it’s about making the messenger with the best UX while not introducing all the problems of the centralised messengers. I think this is only possible by having a great set of features without overwhelming the users.
Having a way to quickly record video messages in the same way that users are used to recording audio messages seems to be one of these intuitive features to me and it is one that my whole family including my parents are using on a regular basis. I don’t care much if the messages are round, square or whatever (pls not triangles though), it’s more about holding down the thumb and immediately record something for the others.
