After the removal of broadcast lists, the following functions are missing:
- You can no longer sort contacts.
(e.g., colleagues, archers, relatives, friends) - You can no longer create and manage one-to-many messages.
(e.g., Last one in, lock the vehicles)
Who needs this:
Anyone in a leadership position who needs to distribute information or instructions.
For example, fire departments, companies,
or the recipients must be changed frequently,
for example driving schools,
or users with a very large number of contacts…
Why not a group:
If one person is responsible for ensuring everyone is reached,
no one else should be able to change the recipients.
e.g., fire department
Why not a channel:
You can’t manage recipients in a channel.
Programming
To keep the identities separate, the forwarding function should be used in the background.
Expected behavior
- I want to be able to sort my contacts.
- I want to be able to create and manage one-to-many messages.
Actual behavior
Both are not possible.
Example Images
I’ve been thinking about how the layout could be improved to make it possible:
The icons used are open source from LibreOffice, see: click!
Let’s get started:
