Switch from Mapbox to osmdroid on Android

There is a free library GitHub - osmdroid/osmdroid: OpenStreetMap-Tools for Android which does not get marked as non-free by F-Droid and is not detected as a tracker by εxodus, unlike the currently used mapbox.

if also a way to import/export maps from a zip file could be allowed? it is hard to download the maps, would be nice to download once and be able to share offline with others

I think it even is more secure since only one member of the team download the maps once and then they can be distributed and installed offline in new phones for an operation, etc

mapbox is no longer used, nor is maplibre or osmdroid.

instead the map is rendered cross-platform in a webview using leaflet, which, however, can be relplaced comparable easily. all that is still experimental, tho
