Unable to add desktop as second device

Delta Chat version

I’m signed up and logged in on Device #1: 1.46.7 installed from F-Droid on Android 12, last update 2025-04-01.

Then I installed on Device #2 (Arch/Manjaro Linux) using flatpak:

Delta Chat Desktop 1.58.1 (git: v1.58.1-makepkg)
Delta Chat Core v1.159.3
SQLite 3.45.3
electron 34.5.6
node 20.19.1

Actual behavior

Error message: “QR code could not be decoded DCBACKUP:…”

Steps to reproduce the problem

Approach #1

  1. On device #1: settings // Add Second Device // show QR code
  2. On device #2: “I already have a Profile” // “Add as Second Device” // scan QR code

Approach #2

  1. On device #1: settings // Add Second Device // show QR code // menu // Copy to clipboard
  2. Transmit clipboard contents to clipboard of device #2
  3. On device #2: “I already have a Profile” // “Add as Second Device” // Settings // “Load QR Code as Image”

the issue is known and fixed. you have to upgrade the used 1.46.7 to a recent version (1.46.7 is nearly a year old, also f-droid has much newer versions, maybe f-droid’s index on the phone is outdated)
