Hi, thanks for building DeltaChat. I really like its fundamental idea and I was first testing it already several years ago (when I was using my own email server & domain).
Main feedback after re-installing the current app: I took me a long time to understand what my actual identity is. I think I over-complicated the choice of the relay in the beginning, thinking too much about what domain fits to me. I the end I was wondering why I couldn’t register <my_handle>@relay and If I didn’t anything wrong in the process. For other chat solutions I immediately knew that I am “my telephone number” or “my email address” or “foo@example.com”.
I see you invested a lot of time into a seamless on-boarding. And it really just worked.
So what would have helped me (as a technical user)?
- I am a private key.
- I have to select 1-n relays. But this is not user visible. More a question which jurisdiction I prefer.
As always with user feedback, this is just one vote and maybe only I didn’t understand it. And I know there is no perfect on-boarding that works for all. If you need an outside view on (on-boarding) flows, I’m happy to help!
