it looks like Thunderbird supports Autocrypt again.
With Autocrypt, emails are automatically encrypted as long as the recipients also use it.
So it is now possible again as a DC user to communicate encrypted with non-DC users who use Thunderbird.

Well I did use the Autocrypt plugin years ago and it worked fine between TB and DC, I have also read that there might be plans to implement it again (I think?).
Will test then!
