Beginning to experiment (and try to understand) the Bots and how they work. I seem to have been able to figure out a Telegram Bridge bot. Is there any sort of bot like this for WhatsApp?
WhatsApp is known for banning users/accounts of bots and when used in third party clients, so I wouldn’t get my hope up too high.
So for a WhatsApp bridge you first need some kind of WhatsApp library or api, I looked into it some time ago so I know a few approaches we could take:
- add/integrate delta-chat to GitHub - 42wim/matterbridge: bridge between mattermost, IRC, gitter, xmpp, slack, discord, telegram, rocketchat, twitch, ssh-chat, zulip, whatsapp, keybase, matrix, microsoft teams, nextcloud, mumble, vk and more with REST API (mattermost not required!)
- GitHub - tgalal/yowsup: The WhatsApp lib, python lib for communicating with WhatsApp servers, worked for a text message test, but was a little hassle to get it to work
- use any of the libraries that emulate WhatsApp web to talk to WhatsApp through a device with the official client, downside is that the device need to be always online.
- maybe there are other new ways with the new standalone multi device feature?
Once we have the WhatsApp part the delta-chat part shouldn’t be that hard.
