Yunohost support for Chatmail server

This just to let those people know who would like to see a Shatmail server on Yunohost.
I’ve tried to add it to the app wishlist but it was declined automatically. Reason:

YunoHost already integrates a mail server

I guess it would be too hard to implement 2 mail servers on Yunohost, but I’m not an expert in this.

I wonder what, then, would be a good, simple way ‘newbie’ way to set up a Chatmail server, on something comparatively minimal, as Yunohost provides? Delta has posted that it can run on a RPi4 or 5. but something to manage dyndns (like what Yuno provides) would be needed to make it low-maintenance and portable based on connection.

Hello,
i came here to post the same kind of idea !
Yunohost even have 2 mail server : Roundcube and Cypht, so i don’t understand why not a chatmail server too !
i was reluctant at first to the idea of using chatmail because in my sense it miss one of the greatest strengh of Delta Chat : not having to create yet another account somewhere.
But it can become a powerfull tool only if we can offer more and more chatmail server.
So to help chatmail become more useful we need hundreds of new chatmail server, that can be launched by non-tech people, like a Yunohost app, or i don’t know, a Nextcloud app maybe ? Something with no skill needed.

There is currently active work on adding chatmailserver functionality to Mox, linked from the Github page for the original chatmail software. I don’t think there is any hostility to the idea of multiple implementations. Deltachat is very much intended to be standards-based, not software-defined.

You could also request chatmailserver inclusion at Freedombox, which is pretty similar to Yunohost.

It looks as if Yunohost’s dismissive reply was due to incomprehension. Linking to the Mox discussion and chatmail.at might be helpful when making feature requests. Is there anywhere a standard or specification for chatmailservers? That would be an even better thing to link to.

I’m afraid Roundcube and Cypht are webmail clients, not mailservers. I think Mox has another webmail client, not sure what it is called.
