Improve Quota Alarm

After reaching 80% of the relay quota, deltachat becomes quite annoying sending endless messages alerting of the situation.

Expected behavior

Not to be spammed so reguarly, maybe 1 message a day? And if the default relay is not the full one, It would be nice to stop receiving messages, since the user changed the relay to avoid filling it completely.

Crazy ideas that could work… or not:

  • Define a data relay: heavy messages would be sent through that relay and deleted after delivery… or maybe in few hours. Maybe doesn’t need to be an alternate realy and could be done in the default…
  • Balance between relays: before reaching 80% of the quota switch to an alternate relay.
  • Being able to empty the relay, notifying that some devices would not receive those messages.

Actual behavior

In 20 minutes I’ve received 13 messages. I’ve changed the default relay to another and I’m still receiving new alert messages.

I’ve noticed I can mute the “Device messages” conversation and is making my existence a little bit better.

It’ perfectly reasonable to call it a “quota alarm” and a “storage warning”. Thank you for improving the forum’s search terms!
