Make DC Installation on Tails easier

There are some issues while Using DC on Tails but i found a workaround. Check this Forum Post. Having dedicated Packages or a Plugin for Pidgin Instant Messenger (which comes preinstalled with Tails) would be a lot nicer.

Expected behavior

A dedicated DC-Debian package in the Synaptic/apt-get package Manager, so Tails’ Additional Software Feature would work as intended.

Actual behavior

The only way to install DC on tails is through dpkg with the .deb package available on the official website
(which has a missing dependency: libappindicator 3-1)

afaik Delta Chat will not use Tor automatically when running on Tails - the rust core can’t handle socks proxies yet. So I’m not sure if installed Delta on Tails would yield the expected results. Has anyone checked if the traffic goes over tor, e.g. with a hidden service mail provider (like riseup.net)?

It will not work with .onion domain at all unless you are using something like TorBox:

I got it working a bit more robustly and with less hassle :slight_smile: How to Setup Delta Chat on Tails in 4 Steps

It’s just clicking on a .AppImage file now, no more backup importing required every time.
