Reverse the "Add 2nd Device" flow

I believe that the QR-Code scanning flow for adding a secondary device should be inverted.

By that I mean, the target device intended to receive the profile should show a QR code, not the device that the profile originates from.

Rationale for this is simple:

  • Many desktop computers have no camera. Many tape over their laptop cameras, turn them off, or use shutters.
  • I suspect more of the “origin” devices are gonna be phones, as opposed to laptops or desktops. Those devices also tend to have cameras more often.

Right now, ESPECIALLY if your desktop/laptop computer doesn’t have a camera, it is massively awkward to add another device as it requires you find the copy option in a submenu (which isn’t clear!) and then transfer it to the other device through some other medium.

Why not allow it in both directions, as for contacts? Could that be done clearly?

Making the copy and save-file options clearer would obviate some support requests and ease use, but make it more likely that people would use insecure mediums of transfer.

That could totally be done, I just thought it’d be a smaller short-term goal to just reverse it
