Expected behavior
Users select multiple contacts from their contact list or group member list. In DC-Android, a “new message” icon is displayed in the top bar. Tapping it opens an input field where the message can be entered. In other DC versions, the input field can be opened via a context menu. After sending, the message appears in the 1:1 chats, as if multiple messages had been written individually, similar to forwarding in DC-Android.
Actual behavior
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to send a message to multiple contacts so that it appears directly in the 1:1 chats.
Explanation
In my opinion, it would be very useful to be able to send a message to multiple recipients as described above, just as it makes sense to forward some messages to multiple chats. For example one use case would be, sending greetings on holidays.
It would also make it possible to use the member list of groups as a distribution list, since groups can only be seen by others after they have been created if a message has been sent within them.
This feature would probably be easiest to implement in DC-Android, since it already allows selecting multiple contacts and forwarding messages to multiple chats.
