To make up for the problem of being unable to make calls, it is recommended to set a long-lasting ringing reminder function

Since the app can’t call the recipient, other methods are sometimes required to contact them in a timely manner, which presents security issues. This may lead users to seek out comprehensive alternatives to Delta. As a loyal user, I hope to continue using Delta. Could you please add a long-lasting message reminder feature, similar to a call ringtone, that both parties can cancel? This would allow the recipient to see the message immediately, making up for the lack of call access. Thank you.

The “Calls” feature is already under development, thus there is probably no need to implement this.

Thank you for your answer, so when will I be able to use the call function?

The next release will probably include it as an “experimental” option.

If it goes well, how long will it take? Ballpark estimate

A month.

Wait a second, WofWca. Are they setting up calls there? And will it work through signaling servers? Like in Telegram and WhatsApp? And will signaling servers like STUN/TURN be part of the chat mail relay deployment?

Thank you very much, I am now using the call function. I would like to ask a question, is this call feature encrypted? Is it end-to-end? Will there be a server forwarding mode in the future? This way, you don’t have to worry about the IP address being exposed.
The second question is, how can I check the encryption key for my account? Can this encryption key be changed regularly? If I create another account, will there be a new key?
The third question, how can I check, how many devices are my account logged into?
Thank you for your answer, and please forgive me if there is an inappropriate use of tone words

FTR most of the discussions about calls happened in Help testing upcoming Delta Chat release with calls 📞!.

Yes.

Yes. Encryption is provided by WebRTC out of the box. DTLS keys are generated for each new call and are exchanged as regular Delta Chat messages, i.e. also encrypted (so no MITM).

See the separate topic P2P and proxy settings.

Encryption key for regular Delta Chat messages or for calls? For calls currently you can open dev tools in the call window and take a look at the log line that is below DTLS Fingerprint: SHA-256.

As I said, the key for calls is re-made on every new call.

Thank you for your answers, some of them are too professional and I don’t understand them a little. So I want to check again.
1.Are text messages and calls directly connected to each other’s IP addresses for communication? Or is it only the call?Or does it mean that all information, including calls, must first pass through the official server, and then the server will send it to the other party.
2. There is a direct switch to choose, do you want to connect directly to the IP?
3. Can I view the keys for text messages (not calls)? Can Autocrypt’s settings allow other software to obtain keys? Because I was worried that if the key was leaked, someone would intercept and hack my information.
4. How to check how many devices are logged in to the account?
Please answer in the simplest language, yes or no, how to do it.
Thank you so much

Text is via mailservers. Attachments (photos, audio files, video files, and other files) are via mailservers. Video calls are peer-to-peer (=directly connected). Audio calls are peer-to-peer.

Peer-to-peer calls reveal your IP address unless you use a proxy.

You can see the text-message public-key fingerprints at [hamburger menu icon]>“Encryption info”. You can manully export public and private keys from the advanced settings (except on Android). Your phone should not allow other apps to access this.

Autocrypt sends your public key with each message, but your private key is only on your devices.

You cannot rotate your key yet. If you make a new profile, you get a new key.

Not yet possible.

Thanks for your response, are there any plans to provide a management account login device settings option in the future? Will my current device receive a prompt if the other device is signed in? I would like to be able to log out of other devices with one click. If this option is provided, it can better protect your account. Secondly, I would like to ask if I can receive the information sent in the software if I send the email generated by the account registration to someone else, or use this email to sign up for the app? Finally, can I set or change the password for this email account myself? Is this email address only available for login on this software? Is there a web login port? Looking forward to your reply, thank you very much.

I suggest starting a feature-request thread, and listing the fuctions you would like.

I do not understand this question, sorry.

The password is set when the account is created. It currently cannot be changed. You can choose the password at creation.

It is an e-mail address. You can use it with any mail client that supports IMAP and Autocrypt. But it will only send and recieve encrypted messages.

@Vic9119, these questions are not relevant to the title of this thread. Please make a new thread for each topic, in future. Thank you! :slightly_smiling_face:
